MICRONEEDLING AFTERCARE
PRE TREATMENT :
Proper preparation helps reduce irritation, prevent complications,
and ensure the best possible results from your SkinPen microneedling treatment.

PRODUCT AND SKIN PREP
• Discontinue all exfoliating or active products at least forty eight hours before treatment
• This includes retinoic acid, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, astringents, and exfoliating treatments
​
COLD SORE AND HERPES PRECAUTIONS
• If you have a history of cold sores or herpes simplex, antiviral medication is strongly recommended before and after treatment
• This helps prevent a potential outbreak triggered by microneedling
• Cold sores can occur even in individuals who are not typically prone, especially those with sensitive skin
• Please notify your provider prior to treatment if you have a history of cold sores

MEDICATION AND MEDICAL THERAPY GUIDELINES
• Allow at least twelve hours after autoimmune therapies before undergoing microneedling
• Wait at least six months after completing isotretinoin use before scheduling microneedling
​
INJECTABLES AND PROCEDURE TIMING
• Wait at least forty eight hours before or after Botox treatments prior to microneedling
• Wait at least one week before or after dermal fillers.

LASERS AND OTHER SKIN TREATMENTS
• Wait at least one month before or after laser treatments such as IPL or VBeam
• Wait at least one month before or after chemical peels
• Wait at least one month before or after microdermabrasion treatments

• Arrive to your appointment with clean skin and no makeup
• Avoid sunburn or excessive sun exposure prior to treatment

7 DAY POST TREATMENT KIT
The Factor Five post treatment system is specifically designed for post procedure skin and is safe to use following SkinPen microneedling.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT
• Redness similar to a moderate sunburn is normal immediately after treatment
• Skin may feel warm, tight, swollen, or sensitive
• These sensations typically improve within several hours and continue to calm over twenty four hours
• Mild flaking, dryness, pinpoint bleeding, or minor breakouts may occur over the first few days
• All of these responses are part of the normal healing process and usually resolve within seven to ten days

FIRST SIX TO EIGHT HOURS AFTER TREATMENT
• Do not apply any products unless instructed by your provider
• Avoid makeup, sunscreen, or skincare during this window
• Avoid touching the skin with unclean hands
• Keep hair away from the treated area
• Avoid heat, sweating, and sun exposure
• Product will be applied in office immediately after treatment
• Gently cleanse before bed and begin your post care routine

DAYS ZERO THROUGH SEVEN POST TREATMENT
FACTOR FIVE KIT ONLY
For the first seven days following microneedling, only use the products included in your Factor Five 7 Day Post Treatment Kit unless otherwise directed.
• Do not introduce new products
• Do not resume your regular skincare routine during this time
Morning Routine
• Gently cleanse using the cleanser included in the kit
• Apply the Factor Five serum as directed
• Apply the moisturizer included in the kit
• Apply a zinc oxide based mineral sunscreen when leaving the house
• Reapply sunscreen every two hours during sun exposure
• Wear a hat and seek shade whenever possible
Evening Routine
• Gently cleanse using the cleanser included in the kit
• Apply the Factor Five serum as directed
• Apply the moisturizer to support overnight repair
• Reapply moisturizer as needed if skin feels dry or tight
• Always apply products with clean hands

WHAT TO AVOID DURING THE FIRST SEVEN DAYS
• Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, and acne treatments
• Avoid exercise, sweating, saunas, hot tubs, and heat based activities for three to five days
• Avoid unprotected sun exposure for two weeks
• Avoid makeup for the first twenty four hours
• Mineral makeup may be worn after twenty four hours if necessary
• Do not pick, peel, scrub, or rub the skin
• Do not use facial brushes or cleansing devices
• Avoid tight clothing, hats, or headbands on the treated area
• Wear loose clean cotton fabrics if clothing touches the skin
• Change your pillowcase the night of treatment

DAYS SEVEN AND BEYOND
• Resume your regular skincare routine only once peeling and sensitivity have resolved
• If flaking or dryness persists, continue gentle care and allow additional healing time
• Your provider will guide you on when to safely reintroduce active products
​
